Local people invited to view latest plans for former Powergen site
The development plans that, subject to approval, will transform the former Powergen site in Shirley, will be displayed at a public exhibition next week. Shirley residents and visitors are invited to attend the event, which will be held at Shirley Library in Parkgate.
The exhibition is part of the ongoing community consultation process for the scheme, which is being brought forward by Parkgate developer, Shirley Advance. Robert Birch of Shirley Advance, said,
“We are keen to demonstrate how our latest proposals have evolved to reflect the feedback we had from local people at our last consultation in September last year. All genuine comments arising from this exhibition will be incorporated into the ‘Statement of Community Involvement’, which is submitted to the Council as part of the Planning Application. We will be submitting this in July, so there is still time for people to have their say.”
Proposals for public art to be located on the new roundabout Shirley Advance built alongside the Parkgate development, at the junctions of Stratford Road, Haslucks Green Road and Olton Road, will also be on display. Again, feedback from local people is welcomed.
The exhibition will be held at Shirley Library in Parkgate as follows:
Thursday 18 June from 5pm – 8pm
Friday 19 June from 2pm – 5pm
Saturday 20 June from 11am – 3pm
At these times there will be representatives from the development team available to explain the proposed scheme and answer questions. Those who are unable to attend will still be able to view the display until 5pm on Saturday 27 June or visit www.powergenshirley.co.uk where the plans will be available from 5pm on 18th June.
